About James

I’ve been a writer for as long as I can remember, but have never successfully published my work.

Well, unless you count that one contest that turned out to be a money making scam.

But, with the advent of e-publishing and the wealth of tools–not the mention the community–that is there to help writers like me, it seemed like a good time to give it a shot. This blog will serve as a way to organize my thoughts during this process, detail what I’ve learned in the hopes of helping others in the same boat as I, and to help publicize the work I produce, as I produce it.

I also think it’s important to highlight the remarkable community of Independently Published Authors that thrives on the internet. There’s a wealth of good fiction out there, and I hope to be able to introduce readers to some of it. Part of the focus of this blog is to feature and review certain indie works that I particularly enjoy.

James prefers to write fiction in the sci-fi, horror and weird genres, but dabbles in fantasy, children’s fiction, poetry and non-fiction. His writing is influenced by Shakespeare, the English Romantics, H. P. Lovecraft and Robert E. Howard. He lives with his wife and two dogs in Calgary, Canada.

James can be reached on twitter (@jparsonswrites) and by email (jparsonswrites@gmail.com . He and his wife keep a second blog at Anything But Falafels, where they learn new recipes in the kitchen.
